Having written my doctoral dissertation on the impact of memory on self-harm, I have a deep understanding of how the behaviour serves as a coping mechanism for managing intrusive emotions, body sensations, thoughts, and memories, and how it also helps in alleviating feelings of emptiness and numbness.
I am further highly skilled in, and deeply enjoy working with:
I work with you to identify areas of difficulty and needs to develop a tailored treatment plan and support you in achieving your therapy goals.
The initial phase focuses on symptom reduction and stabilisation, where we work to understand and soothe the often dysregulated nervous system. We also begin to gently explore and familiarise ourselves with the different parts of the sense of self.
This phase focuses on processing traumatic memories to gradually undo the impact that past events have had on the sense of self and on how we perceive and respond to current situations.
This phase focuses on working with the now befriended parts of the personality to foster a more coherent and harmonious sense of self.
Sessions focus on case conceptualisation, treatment planning, and MID interpretations for complex & dissociative presentations.
As a board-approved supervisor, these sessions can be counted towards your Australian annual CPD hours.
